Reasonable, Expectations, Authentic
This week, I’m going to look at the first three of the R.E.A.L. G.O.A.L.S.™:
I’ll be writing out some goals and examining them based on these criteria.
- Reasonable: can actually be done; the resources are available or can be gotten without breaking the bank; will work with the rest of my life
- Expectations: make sure I’m following my desires and expectations and no one else’s
- Authentic: Make sure the expectations are my own and from my heart and not coming from a desire for money, fame, popularity, or anything else besides following my own path
One last thing. If you are following along with these posts and creating your own goals, don’t censor yourself because you’re worried about fitting your goals into these categories. First, write down your goals and dreams no matter what they are. Then, when you have it all down, go back and hone your goals. You can edit them so they flow with the system and therefore become more “doable,” but first make sure you get them all down so you have something real to work with.
Let me know what you’re working on. I’d love to hear about who’s planning along with me!
See you Sunday with my “raw” dreams and goals and the beginnings of honing them with the R.E.A.L. G.O.A.L.S.™ system.

This is fab!! I am following but somehow my comment on your first post didn’t publish… eek!
Just love the criteria you are using for R.E.A. I’ve been sooo struggling with my goals over the past week and felt like I’d hit a real ‘block’. But seeing your definitions really got me thinking, particularly the E and A parts: too often I slip into my olde way of thinking – doing what other people expect, following others’ suggestion/ideas rather than my own etc. Plus the overwhelming pressure of needing to make money undoubtedly rears its very ‘practical’ head at some point or another. :0S
Thank you so much for the gentle ‘nudge’ to keep me on track. I’m tired of compromising what has been laid on my heart and soul, simply to keep other people ‘happy’ and to satisfy others’ agendas. Having a clear structures to guide my way forward seems like the only way to overcome this tendancy and kick my fears into the kerb too.
What an inspiration you are, Kim.

Thank you, Jo! Sorry about your first comment wandering off into the ether. How strange!
I think it’s really hard to stay on point and follow what’s in our hearts. The whole world seems to be telling us ” look this way, act this way, live this way.” We are bombarded with images of all the “shoulds” all day, every day. And there are only a small number of us, relatively speaking, out here telling each other that we *don’t* have to follow those “normal” guidelines. So, be gentle with yourself, listen to your small voices, and keep turning back to your heart path when you find you’ve been pulled astray by the louder voices out in the world.
