Why I Create, April 12

I have a lot of reasons why I create. But one biggie is the glorious riot of colors. Who can resist this? Who can look at this and not want to grab them up and make something?! New supplies and the video tutorials that go with them are constant sources of inspiration (and shopping). Sometimes, though, I get inspired by grabbing the supplies I have and pairing them up into new color combinations or by combining supplies I haven't used together before.

That's it for today. I'm rummaging through my supplies, working on how I want to organize them to make them easiest to access, so I thought I'd share how doing that always makes me extra excited to create things.

Why do you create?

I seem to spend more time organising art supplies (and shopping for them) than I do making anything with them lol. I know I'm not alone. Sometimes I just have to avoid watching those new product release videos altogether, too dangerous! Elle xx

LOL! I get this. I have been sucked into getting new things from watching the videos more than once. But I love them anyhow!

This is so me. I once counted each individual pan of watercolour I have. It was a ridiculous number.

Each color, even when they're similar, is so subtly different! Also, I find it much easier to go overboard with small things like watercolors (or for me watercolor crayons of various sorts). It's so little! What could it hurt to get a few more?

I love that feeling! I get so excited when I have something new on the way. When I ordered my first Marabu art crayons, I couldn't stop checking the mailbox. πŸ˜€

A week doesnÒ€ℒt pass unless I have a new art supply to play with. When I moved across the US from CT to CA - we packed three crates - two contained furniture and boxes and the third was ALL of my art supplies!

I loooooooove art supplies. My studio is a disaster right now, and I'm really feeling it. I know once I get in there and start organizing things, I'll feel much more inspired because I'll find all the things I love to play with that I've forgotten I had. πŸ˜€

I don't really enjoy cleaning, but I do love that side effect of organizing my supplies. It's so fun! Like shopping in your own store. πŸ™‚

The colors pull me in every time! I see a gorgeous color, and my resolve to not buy more supplies flies right out the window.

oh yes! I love playing with all my art supplies! I'm an out of sight out of mind kinda person, so I have them all displayed to remember to use them. I also find junk journals and altered books a great "playing tool" for using new supplies, instead of just looking at them *lol

haha which reminded me to play with my oil pastels in the spread I'm working on now! Thanks for the inspiration πŸ˜‰

I'm also an out of sight out of mind person. It really makes it hard to figure out how to keep all my things! Especially because I really love having *all the things*. πŸ˜€

I had to laugh at this post because i feel found out! I was enticed to read your post because of your lovely photo! Oh all those wondewrfully delicious supplies! So yes I am very much a magpie to art supplies. They simply excite me. So much potential and possibility wrapped up in them. Have fun with yours. <3

LOL! I think we might all be a little called out. πŸ˜€ Potential and possibility in colorful little bundles. πŸ˜€

I am what I call a supply slut πŸ˜‰ I love all the supplies in all the worlds and all the colours. Someone asked me recently what are your least favourite colours? I answered orange but I also said that I like orange as well though because I just love colours, all colours, it's just if I put colours on a heirarchy then orange would be at the bottom that's all.

    1. Kim

I get this! Orange and yellow are at the bottom of my list. Except for the oranges and yellows I adore and use all the time. πŸ˜€
